Meditating is a reflection practice that permits your body quality time to sit in stillness and focus on the gentle transition of your breath as you inhale and exhale to feel more grounded.  It helps clear all thoughts and distractions on the surface of your mind in order to reset and strengthen focus on your mental awareness.  It's necessary to cultivate a meditative practice through a process of conscious breathing and self awareness.  If you can control where you direct your awareness then, you can also control your perception of the experience through

focused breathing.
